You think of the orchids, you see the cattleya.
A plant from the orchid family including over 100 species. Occurring in South America. They usually have large, colorful flowers that can measure up to 25 cm in diameter
Cattleya generally blooms with large and fragrant, brightly colored flowers. Cattleya has a flowering time of 2 to 8 weeks.
The plant is recommended for beginners and experts. Cattleya is very hardy and tolerant of many aspects (watering or temperature)
They develop when the daytime temperature is between 21 and 27 degrees C. There should be a drop in temperature at night (preferably around 15 to 18 degrees C). A lower night-time temperature will help initiate flower buds and promote stronger growth. If you are not providing artificial light, you should place the plants near the window. It is very important! Cattleya need abundant, but not intense, light to grow and bloom well. An east window or a south window with a slight shade such as a transparent curtain from early February to late October is ideal. The early morning sun is very important.
Plants can be grown outdoors from June to late fall in areas with filtered light. Direct sunlight will burn the leaves of the plants. If you live in an area where it is snowing, you can leave Cattleya outside until the first frost.
Cattleya like 50% to 65% humidity. This can be achieved with a humidifier or by filling a saucer with crushed stone and placing it underneath the plants. Then, when you water it, the spill will fill the saucer, releasing moisture into the air through the crushed rock. However, make sure the pot is elevated above the water level in the saucer.
Always use clean, distilled water for watering. It can also be reverse osmosis water for your plants or rainwater. Cattleya should be watered when the potting medium is dry almost to the bottom of the pot. This usually happens about every week from the previous watering. If in doubt, do not water. Wait another day or two. Cattleya, like other plants, should not stand in water.

The plant is sold in a pot with a diameter of 12 cm. Plant height measured with the pot is approx. 40-55 cm.
