Monstera siltepecana is a collector’s relative of the fashionable Monstera deliciosa. This unique variety is native to the tropical forests of Mexico and India, where it climbs tall tree trunks towards the sun. Under natural conditions, its lanceolate leaves reach a length of about 30 cm. Young growths of this monstera have a shade of cool green covered with silver streaks, on which the dark green nerves stand out. With age, the leaves turn darker and darker in shade of green and lose their silver glow, but in return develop long, monster-like holes. In order to speed up the process of the formation of holes in the leaves, the plant should be supported, otherwise the growth will remain in its youthful form. Monstera siltepecana flowers are not ornamental. Monstera siltepecana is a collector’s plant suitable also for beginners. The rapid growth of this variety will please all impatient plant lovers.
