Scindapsus Pictus Argyrae

A beautiful potted plant that produces spectacular shoots that can reach up to several meters in length. The decoration of this species are heart-shaped, leathery leaves. The surface of the leaf blade is dark green, decorated with a silvery, narrow margin and charming silvery spots. The plant can be grown in hanging pots or climb on various supports. In nature, it can be found in Africa, Asia and Australia. Scindapsus versicolor prefers bright locations, high air humidity and fertile, permeable soil. This species produces large amounts of oxygen and cleanses the air of harmful volatile substances.

Requirements:

Scindapsus grows on the undergrowth of rainforests and climbs the trunks of tall trees, which gives us a lot of tips on its care. The position in which he will feel good should be bright, with plenty of diffused light. Direct southern sun may burn its leaves, while a location that is too shaded will cause the plant to stretch out towards the sun, which results in elongation of the internodes and loss of its compact shape. For this reason, it is recommended to place the scindapsus on the eastern, northern or western windowsill. The soil should be slightly acidic, fertile, humus-rich and at the same time permeable. A suitable substrate will be a universal substrate. Scindapsus should be watered only when the substrate is almost completely dry. It is a plant sensitive to overwatering, which can lead to rotting of the roots and the development of bacterial or fungal infections. The air humidity suitable for scindapsus should be at least around 50%. The higher the humidity, the more the plant will appreciate it. The plant should be regularly fertilized with fertilizer for green plants according to the instructions given on the manufacturer’s label. Fertilization should be done in sunny months – preferably from March to October. However, if we use light bulbs in the winter months, we should not give up fertilizing even during this period.

The plant is sold in a pot with a diameter of 12 cm. Plant height measured with the pot is approx. 30-40 cm.
