Maranta Lemon Lime, Maranta ‘Light Veins’, Maranta ‘Silver Band’in one pot!
The Lemon Lime variety is one of the more interesting varieties of colorful arrowroot. This houseplant forms densely leafy clumps reaching 30 cm in height. Its beautiful, egg-shaped leaves have a velvety texture and eye-catching colors. They regularly form a compact clump with short shoots. The underside of the leaves is purple, while the outside is multi-colored. The dark green of the surface of the leaves is intertwined with the bright one, and bright orange, contrasting arched patterns run along the main nerves. The middle of each leaf is additionally decorated with bright accents. The leaves appear small white flowers practically all year round, however, the main decoration is colorful leaves.
Maranta ‘Light Veins’ is a fanciful representative of the arrowroot family that is begging for attention. Neither prudent nor romantic – more frivolous and provocative. The oval-shaped leaves surprise with their pattern. There is a lot going on on them, because first of all, we are dealing here with very expressive light veins, arranged feathery tightly together. Secondly, the background color of the plaque is lush green, slightly leaning towards lime. And to top it all off, there are dark, square arrowroot spots on either side of the main vein. With all its motleyness, its overall look looks extremely light. Wonder of wonders, but how beautiful! Arrowroot ‘Light Veins’ grows in tropical rainforests, where it mainly crawls on the ground, but when encountering a tree on its way, it willingly uses it as a support. The blade reaches a maximum length of about 20 cm, so the plant can rather be described as compact. Without support, the leaves grow slightly smaller, so it is worth providing it with a pole or stake. But with loose leaves it will look just as impressive. Marantha is perfect for the face in absolutely every casing, its beauty is indescribable. This variety will be an original, collector’s taste for every lover of arrowroot. Maranta ‘Light Veins’ does not contain any substances dangerous to animals.
Maranta ‘Silver Band’ is a collector’s variety of the well-known and popular arrowroot. Maranta is one of the most colorful birds in the world of exotic plants. In addition to expressive colors, its characteristic feature is the ability to fold leaves thanks to the specific connection of the blade with the leaf petiole. Maranta ‘Silver Band’ is distinguished by a wide band of silver gray in the middle of the blade. The veins radiate to the sides, are bright and strongly stand out against the dark green edges of the leaves. The central, main vein is neon green for a change, which adds depth to the whole. The bottoms of the growths are decorated with a dark red color, which is found in most plants of the arrowroot family. This fascinating color scheme catches the eye and works well in modern interiors. Silvery-gray shades are very rare in nature, which makes the plant a perfect complement to the collection of lovers of this species. Arrowroot blooms with small, white and purple flowers, which have no decorative value, but give great satisfaction, because they are a sign of proper care of the plant. Maranta ‘Silver Band’ is safe for our pets.
Cultivation and care:
Maranta will tolerate a shady position, but it should be borne in mind that in nature these plants grow in tropical jungles, where there is much more sun, even in the lowest layers of the forest. That is why it is worth finding a bright place for it with diffused light, thanks to which it will captivate us with the full value of its color. Arrowroot can be led on a stake or a ladder, because it has the ability to climb, but it will look just as good hanging freely, e.g. from a suspended pot. Arrowheads prefer increased air humidity (60% and more), which can be provided with a humidifier. Arrowroot plants like moisture in their roots, so the substrate should be adapted to their needs. A compost, humus, fertile, slightly acidic and slightly loosened substrate will work best in this role. Fertilizer for green plants will be suitable for Maranta. Arrowroot produces tubers in the roots that have the ability to store water. Watering the arrowroot should be done at such intervals that the substrate can retain the right amount of moisture. Keep in mind that moisture is not synonymous with water stagnation, which can harm the plant. The biggest problem in the cultivation of arrowroot are curling leaves, which can mean extreme drying or rotting of the roots. Brown, brittle ends of the plaque may indicate too low air humidity.
