Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ is a very effective, eye-catching variety of red philodendron. Although it is no longer new, it is still scarcely available and sought after by collectors. As befits a “Painted Lady”, it delights with the beauty of yellow-green spotted leaves that look like hand-painted. The leaves are heart-shaped, elongated with a pointed tip and an indented base. They grow up to about 20 cm in length and 13 cm in width, and change color as they mature. Younger leaves are light yellow with soft green specks, and gradually accumulate more green patterns over time. The beauty of the speckled yellow-green leaves of Philodendron ‘Painted Lady’ is wonderfully emphasized by the pink-red, contrasting petioles and dark red stems. Visible pink veining may also appear in young leaves. The plant grows up to 120 cm and is best grown with a support.
