Under natural conditions, hoya lacunosa grows on jungle trees in Southeast Asia, where its shoots can reach a length of up to several meters. The leaves of this hoya are small, 1.5 – 3.5 cm long and 1.5 – 2.5 cm wide. They are characterized by a fleshy, thick plate with a shiny surface and slightly convex innervation. Silver speckles attract the eye, and the darker border makes each leaf stand out separately from the others, adding an aesthetic, orderly appearance to the plant. Hoya can be carried on a stick, but the shoots arrange themselves most effectively when they hang loosely down. Hoya Lacunosa is also famous for its decorative, tiny flowers that grow densely on the umbels, and the scent they emit is associated with the aroma of cinnamon. To encourage flowering, you can move it to a cooler place. Hoya juice contains substances that are toxic to humans and animals, so caution is recommended when growing it at home.
Advantages:
climbing or hanging habit
charming heart-shaped leaves
flowers with a cinnamon scent
the plant is easy to grow
Requirements and care:
Hoya Lacunosa is an easy and graceful plant to grow at home. Accustomed in nature to difficult conditions, it does not require excessive care and attention in the apartment. However, it is worth remembering its mountain origin and the need for high air humidity. It prefers a warm position with plenty of diffused light. It tolerates drought quite well, but the substrate should not be completely dried out. However, it is very sensitive to water stagnation and overflow, so the pot should have a lot of drainage holes, and the substrate must be permeable and well-drained. A suitable substrate is a universal substrate.
It grows best in tight containers, kept on supports or hanging.
The plant is sold in a pot with a diameter of 9 cm. Plant height measured with the pot is approx. 20 – 25 cm
